Assessment in Primary

Assessing of children's progress is continuous. Some formal standardised testing is carried out throughout the year to supplement the teacher's judgement of the student's progress.

A student's work and test books will periodically be sent home for sighting by parents. This may consist of pieces of the student's work such as assessments, tests, as well as textbooks and general workbooks. Parents are able to view these and sign. The work samples must be returned to school the following Monday for use in class.

Regular parent contact is encouraged. Parent interviews will be held frequently. Assemblies and Learning Journeys will be an opportunity for parents and students to enjoy.

An informal Learning Journey evening is held in Term 3 which encourages parents to come into classrooms and view the work their children have been completing throughout the year. This is held in conjunction with the year 5 and 6 Market Night where upper primary students showcase what they have been learning in Economics for HASS. This is a fantastic school community event where the Primary School comes alive with the buzz of interaction as people buy and sell.
